Donald B. Dubes, Sr.
LOAMI, IL - Donald B. Dubes, Sr., 88, of Loami, died in his sleep on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
Donald was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Humboldt, Ill., the son of Roy T. and Mary A. McNickols Dubes. He married Joyce Guinee; she preceded him in death.
Donald was a 1943 graduate of Humboldt High School. He served in the Army Infantry 96th Deadeyes from 1943-1946. He held a lifelong career as a farmer in Loami. He was a devoted member of the Loami United Methodist Church, where he served on the Pastor Parish Committee. He was also a member of the American Legion, a fifty plus year member of Masonic Order, and Eastern Star. He enjoyed showing sheep all over the country and won many trophies and ribbons.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Roy T. Dubes.
He is survived by his son, Donald B. Dubes, Jr. of Loami; one grandson, Jeffery Troy Dubes; and several step-grandchildren who referred to him as "Pops."
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at McCullough, Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014, at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, the Rev. Donald Peck officiating. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with military honors.
