BETHALTO, IL - Dorothy Patricia Westerhold, 89, passed away at 10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Bethalto Care Center.
Born in St. Louis on March 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Anthony Joseph and Josephine (Novak) Kalista.
Dorothy was a past president of the Wood River Township Hospital Ladies Auxillary, and member of the Alton Eagles Aries #254 and Wood River Moose Lodge#1349 since 1942. She had worked as a bookkeepper for Stolze Lumber 15 years before retiring.
On Aug. 2, 1947, in Wood River, she married Frederick T. Westerhold. He died Nov. 5, 1997.
Surviving are three daughters: Marilyn (Donald) Delay of Edwardsville, Dr. Jane (Steven) Arbuthnot of Springfield, Ill., and Karen Welch of St. Louis; four grandchildren: Meryl (Wade) Stahlhut, Lindsey (Bob) Arbuthnot Clancey, Steven Arbuthnot and Stephanie (Frank) Leiber; four great-grandchildren: Abigail, Reagen and Calista Stahlhut, and Grayson Leiber.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24 at St. John United Church of Christ, 228 N. 6th St, Wood River, IL, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Pastor Michael Southcomb will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
