Earlene "Honey" Hopson

SPRINGFIELD - Earlene "Honey" Hopson departed this life on May 17, 2013, at Memorial Hospital. She was born September 6, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Lueceafes and Bonnie Reese. She married Jessie Hopson on May 14, 1983.

She was a member of Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ. Earlene was a private duty nurse for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

She leaves to cherish memories her husband, Jessie L. Hopson; one son, Ricky (Joyce) Reese of Springfield; five daughters: Glynis Smith of Bloomington, Ruby Reese, Lueceafes Reese, Ramona Diaz and Massie Starks all of Springfield; two brothers, JW Reese of Texas and Leroy Reese of Springfield; and two sisters, Beatrice (Richard) Gragg, and Bonnie Reese of Springfield. She also leaves four adopted children: Juan Starks Jr., Ashley Hopson, Sabrina Hopson and Jessica Lopez. Honey also leaves 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one aunt, several nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Temple, 2401 E. Ash St., Springfield on Friday, May 24, 2013. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
