LITCHFIELD, IL - Gloria Jean Pearce, 68, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at 8:18 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
She was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Bethalto, a daughter of Herman and Madeline (Hampton) Bruntjen. She graduated from Bethalto Civic Memorial High School with the Class of 1963. She then attended and graduated from Lincoln Land Community College with a Nursing degree. She was employed by St. John's Hospital in Springfield for 40 years before retiring. She married John A. Pearce in 1963 and they later divorced; and Ed Landholt in 1980. They also divorced.
She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to cook and enjoyed hobbies of painting, making ceramics, and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Gregory A. (Terry) Pearce of Loami; daughter, Jennifer L. (Bill) Kinney of Litchfield; seven grandchildren: Katie, Hillary, and Jon Kinney, and Wade, Ben, Emily, and Madeline Pearce; brother, Scott (Marissa) Bruntjen of Rosewood Heights; three sisters, Sharon (John) Curtis of Wilmington, Del., Linda (Don) Wineagar of Sonoma, Calif., and Shelley (Albert) Perez of Godfrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 6 p.m. at St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield, Rev. James Tinzmann officiating. Visitation will be held in the church from 4 p.m. until service time.
The family suggests memorials to St. Timothy United Methodist Church Soup Kitchen or Litchfield Food Pantry.
