Gregory James Kelso
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Gregory James Kelso, 67, passed away in Springfield, Ill., at home on Nov. 23, 2013.
Greg was born March 31, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., to William H. Kelso and Rita Mae Dempsey Kelso. Both parents preceded Greg in death.
Greg graduated from Griffin High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1966-1969 and attended Southern Illinois University. Greg enjoyed playing the guitar and was a true Beatles fan beginning with the Ed Sullivan Show.
Greg is survived by one living uncle, Alec Kelso; four sisters: Kitty, Kim (husband, Pat Leonard), Kris and Kelly; half-brothers, Pat and Bill; four living, extended-family siblings: Jim, Greg, Kelvin and Stephanie; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, IL with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
