Harold Robert Deloney, Sr.
SPRINGFIELD - Harold Robert Deloney, Sr., 87, of Springfield, died at 1:27 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his residence.
Harold was born February 18, 1926, in Springfield, the son of August and Hannah Mahoney Deloney. He married Mildred Walden and she preceded him in death in 1985.
Harold proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Army, where he received the Purple Heart, a Bronze Battle Star, a Combat Infantryman's Badge, and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was employed with Fiat-Allis for more than 30 years. Harold was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, August, William, Albert, Patrick, and Joseph Deloney.
He is survived by two sons, Harold R. Deloney, Jr., and Bruce M. (wife, Sondra) Deloney, both of Springfield; daughter, Lana M. (husband, Bill) Ankrom of Riverton; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Margaret Deloney of Sherman.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, at St. Joseph's Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
