James T. "Jim" Croll

SPRINGFIELD – James T. "Jim" Croll, 88, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.

He was born August 20, 1924, in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Clarence and Mary (Hanrahan) Croll. He married Patsy Landrey in Springfield in 1945. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded by daughters, Cathy and Carol Lyn.

James was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in WWII. He was employed as a passenger brakeman for Pennsylvania Railroad.

He is survived by a daughter, Chris Croll of Springfield; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer, Melissa, Jesse, Danny and Kayla; 3 great-grandchildren: Aviya, Brenden, and Antoine; 2 brothers, Clarence (Tami) Croll of Springfield and Frank (Brenda) Croll of Virden; 3 sisters: JoAnn Croll and Shirley Burris both of Springfield, and Norma Jean Minger of Terre Haute, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Northenders Post 10302 or Animal Protective League.
