John Haseley, Sr.

ATHENS - John Haseley, Sr. "Do Wop", age 68, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Marla (husband Eric) Smith of Sherman, Kristi (husband Rod) Parkinson of Wataga; one son, John Haseley, Jr. of Buffalo; beloved grandchildren, Austin, Hannah, and Mabel; step-grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, and Rachel; his dog, Goldie; and several cousins.

John was born June 25, 1944 in Springfield, the son of Edward and Margaret Prill Haseley. They preceded him in death.

He married Cheryl Wahlsmith in July of 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains.

He retired from Coca Cola Company after 37 years as a service technician.

In his spare time he enjoyed helping harvest crops. John also enjoyed spending time in his garage building street rods.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Illini Bank Community Center, 120 Illini Blvd., in Sherman, where friends may visit on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 10:00 AM until time of Celebration of Life there at 12:00 noon.

John requested casual attire for all those who attend. Todd Smith will conduct a service prior to the meal served afterwards.

Memorials can be made to the "Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics"
