John Henry "Jack" Nierhoff Jr.

BLOOMINGTON - John Henry "Jack" Nierhoff Jr., 68, of Bloomington, and formerly of Springfield, died at 4:55 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, after a courageous battle with cancer.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington, with Rev. Luke Spannagel officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Additional visitation will be for half an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Catholic High School or .

He was born December 31, 1944, in Springfield, the son of John Henry and Vivian Viele Nierhoff. He married Mary Lou Ebel on October 3, 1964, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Convey of Aurora and Tina (Tony) Durnil of Grayslake; six grandchildren: Courtney, Micaela and Addison Convey and Jackie, Antonia and Mario Durnil; a brother, Ronald Jay Nierhoff, and a sister, JoLynn (Gene) Adams, both of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was a graduate of Griffin High School in Springfield.
