Kenneth Dean McLaughlin

PETERSBURG - Kenneth Dean McLaughlin, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2013. Kenneth was born June 29, 1925, the son of Nellie Jane (Miller) and Henry Yates McLaughlin. Kenneth married Patricia Jane Power on February 14, 1953, and they were married 60 wonderful years and were parents to four children and many foster children. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Teresa (Anthony) Doll, Randall (Lana) McLaughlin, Scott McLaughlin and Kelly Spivey; grandchildren, Morgan (Aaron) Beck, Tanya, Conrad, Tia and Tara McLaughlin, Joey Spivey; and great-granddaughter, Alivia Beck. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews and extended family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, mother, and nine siblings. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittney McLaughlin.

Kenneth was a deacon at the First Baptist Church and a cherished member of the church family. He proudly served in the Army Air Force and served as a waist gunner in WWII. No formal services will be held and Kenneth was cremated per his wishes. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Petersburg in lieu of flowers.
