Lisa BALLENGER

Lisa Dee Hadsell Ballenger

CAMARILLO, CA - Lisa Dee Hadsell Ballenger, 43, formerly of Rochester, passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at her home in Camarillo, Calif. She was born Dec. 18, 1970, at St. John's Hospital, to Robert and Darlene (Dee) Hadsell of Rochester. Lisa was a 1988 graduate of Rochester High School, attended LLCC, and Conejo Valley Adult School in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where she just graduated to become a Physicians Assistant.

While living in Springfield she worked for the Sangamon County Sheriff's Department and Springfield Fire Department as a 911 dispatcher for 12 years. After moving to Los Angeles, she was fire and safety manager for Van Nuys for three years; then, she served LAPD for 12 years as Police Service Representative II, 911, where she was currently employed. She married David Ballenger Dec. 11, 2011.

Lisa was in love with music. She loved going to concerts and was friends with many recording artists, especially Durand Durand. She loved their music in the 80's and was fortunate to have won a trip to Las Vegas to be with them on their farewell tour. She became good friends with them and was in constant contact with them up until the end.

Lisa loved life and was a happy free spirit, so kind and caring with sparkling blue eyes and a beautiful smile. Most of all her laughter was infectious. If she laughed, you laughed. Another love was baking and cooking gourmet meals for her family and friends. She was known as the Cup Cake Queen. Lisa was described by her LAPD friends as the one person that was always there for you when you needed help. She was loved by so many people.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and is survived by her husband, David; two stepsons, Jack and Dan, who she loved dearly, always calling them her sons; mother Darlene (Dee) Hadsell, of Rochester; sister, Laurie (Phil) Flood, of Twin Lakes, Wisc.; three nephews, Bill (Andrea) Rathbone, of Bassalt, Colo., Gene (Katrian) Rathbone, of Streamwood, Ill., Cody (companion Christina) Rathbone, of Twin Lakes, Wisc.; three nieces, Peyote Lee Rathbone, of Silver Lake, Wisc., Erin (Josh) Blase, of Twin Lakes, Wisc., Lacy Flood, Twin Lakes, Wisc.; two great-nieces, Amiyah and Laylah; one great-nephew, Liam; plus, her three beautiful black cats, Zizzy, Indigo and Batman. They were her heart and soul.

At Lisa's request she was cremated. A beautiful memorial was held in L.A. by the LAPD Communications Department on March 27, 2014, at the training academy where Lisa received her training. The whole department was in attendance. A beautiful woman gone too soon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rochester United Methodist Church, Sojourn House or Animal Protective League.
