Harrison Ingram

MT. STERLING, IL - Lloyd Harrison Ingram, 83, of Mt. Sterling, Ill., passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Brown County, Ill., the son of James H. and Eva B. Tolle Ingram. He married Carolyn Rose Dean on June 8, 1952, in Pittsfield, Ill., and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2012.

Mr. Ingram was a retired Brown County farmer who still loved to help his son-in-law with the operation of his farm. He also worked for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation on the road maintenance crew with 20 years retiring in 2002.

Harrison attended rural Brown County schools and graduated from Brown County High School with the Class of 1948.

Mr. Ingram was a veteran of the Korean War having served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Timewell Christian Church and the American Legion. Harrison always enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed sharing his produce with his family and many friends. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking, and would always donate something that he had made to the local cancer society for fundraisers. Harrison loved having coffee with his many friends, eating out and attending ice cream socials.

Survivors include two children, Theresa Geisler (husband, David) of Mt. Sterling and Rodney Ingram (wife, Debbie) of Ashland; two grandchildren, Angela Geisler (fiancée, Mike Koehler) of Springfield, Ill., and Michael Geisler of Troy, Ill.; two brothers, Dallas Ingram of Carthage, Ill., and Jessie Ingram of Quincy, Ill. One sister-in-law, Evalyn Worthington of Mt. Sterling, also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Lozelle, Forrest and Lyle Dean Ingram.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with the Rev. Steve Griffin officiating.

Burial will be at the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery. A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to: Brown County Against Cancer or Unity Point at Home Hospice.
