Lottie D. Kerar
SPRINGFIELD - Lottie D. (Lewis) Kerar, 94, passed away at 10:25 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield, Ill.
Lottie was born Sept. 25, 1919, to Fred and Myrtle Lewis in Franklin, Ill.
She moved to Springfield in 1937 following graduation from Franklin High School to attend Brown's Business College. She graduated from Brown and began her career at the Harold Bruce Electronic Co.
She married Rudolph (Rudy) Kerar, Sr., of Springfield, in 1950. Together they had two children, Cheryl L. (Kerar) Keller of Athens, Ill., and Rudolph (Rudy), Jr., of Baton Rouge, La. After raising her children, she returned to work for the State of Illinois Department of Revenue, where she worked for over twenty years.
Following her retirement, she stayed active taking care of the home where she lived for over forty years and visiting her children. When the time became appropriate she moved to the Illinois Presbyterian Home where she was a resident for four years.
Lottie was always a joy to be around. She greeted all with a smile and a friendly hello. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, son and grandchildren and the many people she has had the opportunity to meet.
Lottie is survived by her two children; son-in-law, Alan Keller; three grandchildren, Robert (Stacey) Keller, Deanna (Keller) (Robert) Schieler and Joseph Keller; five great-grandchildren (Sydnee, Ryder and Jaymee Keller and Austin and Caden Schieler); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and all seven of her sisters and brothers-in-law.
A special thanks from Lottie's family to the Illinois Presbyterian Home and the staff of the 300 Hall at Lewis Memorial Christian Village for all of the helpfulness, compassion and kindness given to our mother.
