Lyle E. Solomon
ATHENS - Lyle E. Solomon, 64, of Athens, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 5:05 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2013, at St. John's Hospice. He was born December 31, 1948, in Springfield, to Ellis C. and Lucille Driskell Solomon. He married Angela Sue Laurent on May 4, 1985, and she survives.
Also surviving are one sister, Elane (Don) Catton of Silvis, IL, and one brother, Brian (Brenda) Solomon of Modesto; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Becky) Laurent of Springfield and Jim (Mary Kay) Laurent of Evanston; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Lyle was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam Era and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Ministerial Alliance of Athens and was ordained at Spirit of Truth Ministries in Columbus, OH. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking. He also enjoyed reading and history.
He worked as a bricklayer for more than twenty years and was owner and operator of Solomon Masonry. For the past ten years, he has served as a pastor at HISway Christian Fellowship Church in Athens.
Visitation: 5 - 7 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with an additional visitation from 10:30 – 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Living Water Church.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Living Water Church with Dr. Robert Armstrong and Jay Diers officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HISway Christian Fellowship Church or Lifetime Pregnancy Center.
