Rev. M. Thomas Swantner

FRANKFORT- Rev. M. Thomas Swantner, 83, of Frankfort, Indiana, died Monday, December 17, 2012.

Tom served for 42 years as a minister under appointment with the United Methodist Church, 6 years in Indiana, 36 years in Illinois. Tom was a member of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, past member of Rotary Club of Frankfort and Pana where he was also Assistant District Governor, was twice a Paul Harris Fellow, and past member of the Masons, Shriners and Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife Vera Swantner, Frankfort, IN; daughters, Rebecca E. (Kim) Heusel of Indianapolis, IN and Laura F. (John) Johnson of Peoria, IL; sister, Shirley (Charles) Guyer of Kokomo, IN; brother, John J. Swantner (companion, Ellen Gross) of Chili, IN; three grandchildren, Aaron K. Heusel (Cara Owens), Robin D. (Natalie) Heusel, and Thomas G. Heusel (Lori Marshall); two great grandsons, Xander Heusel and Elijah Heusel.

He was preceded by his parents, a son, a brother, a sister, a half brother.

Memorials may be made to Heifer International, Jimmy Carter Center, Habitat for Humanity, Good Samaritan Fund or donor's choice.

A worship service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 in First United Methodist Church, Pana at 2:00 p.m. A time for food and fellowship will follow.
