Margaret "Peg" Coleman
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Margaret "Peg" Coleman, 86, died at 1:10 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at St. John's Hospice. She was born July 10, 1928, in Springfield, to John and Mary Virginia Rutherford Senger. She married John "Jack" Coleman on Sept. 16, 1950, and he survives her.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Harth and Michelle (Scott) Eades of Springfield; one son, Bernie (Ruth) Coleman of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Erin (Paco) Sanchez, John (Rachel) Coleman, Michael Harth, Erik Karhliker, Andrea Harth, Chrissy Harth, Emily Eades and Addison Eades; three great- grandchildren, Esteban "EJ", Molly and Will; one sister, Mary Lou (Jim) Buoy of Naperville; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth "Bub" Adams-Taylor of Peoria and Agnes (George) Hashman of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Richard Senger; a sister-in-law, Willa Jean Senger; and one daughter-in-law, Helen Coleman.
In early adulthood Peg was an organist for Sacred Heart Church. Later she was active at St. Agnes Church with the Altar and Rosary Society as well as volunteering at various church functions. She was a member of St. Joseph's Home Coterie and served as carry-out co-chair for SHG's Mostaccioli Dinner for over forty-five years, among many other volunteer duties at SHG. She was a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with the grandchildren, attending their sporting events, and vacationing with the family. She and her husband, Jack, had the distinction of being the only married couple ever to be inducted in the SHG Hall of Fame.
Peg worked at Griffin High School cafeteria, INB Bank, Garrett Aviation and was co-owner of Coleman Concessions.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at St. Agnes Church.
Lie-in-State: 9-10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at St. Agnes Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
