SPRINGFIELD, IL - Marge Roth, 72, died unexpectedly at 11:54 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
Marge was born Aug. 25, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of William and Viola (Grotefendt) Kesting, Sr.
Marge graduated from Ferguson High School in Ferguson, Mo., in 1959. She graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing; earned her B.S. from the University of Missouri in 1964; and her M.S. in Occupational Health and Safety Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1990. Marge was employed as an Infection Preventionist since 1976, working for 12 years as Director of Infection Control for St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee and then for Memorial Medical Center for 15 years, until her retirement in 2006.
She was an active member of First Congregational UCC, served on the board for the Muni and served in various roles on professional boards. She was a member of the Bells in Motion Choir at church and costumed countless theatre productions.
Marge was a four-sport letter winner in high school and continued her love of sports throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was survived by her daughter, Jennie (husband, Mark) Dickens of Franklin, Tenn.; son, James L. (wife, Jen) Roth of Waukesha, Wis.; grandchildren: Nathan Dickens, Micah Dickens, Matthew Dickens, Brennan Roth, and one granddaughter, "Little Miss" on the way; brother, the Rev. William (wife, Jane) Kesting, Jr. of Cleveland, Wis.; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2100 S. Bates Ave., Springfield, IL.
Funeral Ceremony: 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at First Congregational Church of Christ, the Rev. Dan Dexter and the Rev. William Kesting, Jr., officiating.
