Marshall W. Handshy

SPRINGFIELD - Marshall W. Handshy, 83, of Springfield, died at 3:50 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Mill Creek Alzheimer's Center. He was born December 29, 1929, in Nokomis, to Jesse Emmanual and Maude Irene Adcock Handshy. He married Anna Mae Freligh on February 23, 1952, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Beth Ann (David) Booker of Knoxville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Lauren Booker; one sister, Eileen Foote of Citrus Heights, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and one cousin, Robert Handshy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Sue Handshy; one sister, Jean Mayol; and one brother, William Handshy.

Marshall was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Springfield Sportsman Club, and Postal Carriers Unions.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after forty years of service as a mail carrier. He had previously worked for Allis Chalmers.

Visitation: 12–2 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Christell officiating.

Graveside service will be held at a later date.
