Mary Isabel Gearen
PEKIN, IL - Mary I. Gearen, 88, passed away at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Pekin Manor where she had been a resident for the past 6½ years.
Born November 5, 1925, in Manito to Henry Wilbourn and Grace Luella (Seelye) Williamson, she married Russell L. Gearen on Sep. 19, 1948, in Pekin. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2007, in Pekin.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; three infant sons; one infant daughter; and one brother.
Surviving are one sister, Joyce Starkweather of Plano, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Williamson of Lake Zurich, Ill., and Marian Williams of Pekin; four nieces, Patricia Jacobson, DeDe Starkweather, Judy (Frank) Lowery, and Dorothy (Luke) Atwood; and four nephews, Bill (Carol) Williamson, David Williamson, Dale Williams and Gary (Denise) Williams.
Mary had worked 31 years for Caterpillar, Inc., in East Peoria as a secretary for the Manufacturing Dept. in Building HH, retiring on February 1, 1975.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Mary was a life member of the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of Victoria Shrine #83, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Caterpillar Retiree's Club.
She enjoyed Polka dancing, flower gardening, horses and fishing.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
