SPRINGFIELD, IL - Richard Lee Milburn, 47, passed away at 12:56 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1965, in Springfield, Ill., to Melanony (Egizii) Parker and Rick Milburn.
Rich was employed by Central Management Services as a network technician. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, the Knights of Columbus, the Friday Night Softball League and the TRN Club. Rich was an avid sports fan and played many years on recreational basketball and softball leagues.
Rich had a compassionate heart, a wonderful sense of humor and would help any friend or anyone in need. Rich adored his beloved wife and children. They were the center of his life and he loved nothing more than family movie night with his wife and sons.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Sharkey, and niece, Rachel Mary Sharkey.
Rich is survived by his wife, Mary (Sharkey) Milburn, and his two sons, Steven Milburn and Jeffrey Milburn. Also surviving are his mother, Melanony (Egizii) Parker of South Carolina; father, Rick (Mary Anne) Milburn of Mississippi; sister, Lisa Milburn Maris (George); grandparents: George T. and Mildred Sharp of Springfield, and Jack and Geraldine Graham of Missouri; aunts, Kaye (Larry) Chandler and Gayle (Robert) Laymon; uncle, Thomas (Deirdre) Sharp; uncle Terry Milburn; aunt, Jeanine (Jim) Alsup; mother-in-law, Felicia Sharkey of California; brothers-in-law: Thomas (Wendy), Martin (Maria), Matthew (Wendy) and Michael (Kari); sisters-in-law, Margaret (Lew) and Maureen (Gene); seven cousins and twenty-four nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Christ the King Church with Rev. Joseph Ring officiating.
