RUSHVILLE, IL - Robbie V. Williams Ervin, 94, of Rushville, Ill., passed away at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Wesley Village in Macomb, Ill.
She was born June 10, 1919, on a farm near Sheridan in Crittendon County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert Lee Williams and Carrie Hurley Williams. She married Marshall H. Ervin of Cape Girardeau, Mo., on March 22, 1936.
Robbie is survived by two sons, Marshall L. Ervin of Macomb, Ill., and Dennis G. Ervin (wife, Deborah) of Pace, Fla.; a daughter, Patti Boyd (husband, Dick) of Rushville, Ill.; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Ervin of Rushville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jim Ervin; two sisters, Elizabeth Thomas and Melville Lynn; three brothers: Fred Williams, Rawls Williams and Ray Williams.
As a pastor's wife, Mrs. Ervin served in many leadership roles in United Methodist churches and communities throughout Central Illinois where she and her husband lived. Robbie was active in conference and district organizations. She was awarded a life membership in the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Ervin participated in the community: Woman's Civic Clubs, the Hospital Service Guilds, the Cub Scouts, and Home Extension groups. She co-authored a book on family life with her husband in 1998. She was educated in Cape Girardeau, Mo., schools. Robbie was a member of the First Methodist Church in Rushville, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Rushville First United Methodist Church, the Rev. J. William Warner officiating. Interment will follow at Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
