SPRINGFIELD - Robert H. Bryant, Sr., 90, of Springfield, died at 9:35 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Villa Healthcare West. He was born November 23, 1922, in Springfield, IL, to Asa and Alice Hamilton Bryant. He married Agnes Jane Metzger May 31, 1952, and she preceded him in death March 19, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Asa, and two infant siblings.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary (Steve) Redshaw of Chatham; one son, Robert (Christine) Bryant of Sherman; four grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Champion of Chatham, Kristin (Dana) Stokien of Wauconda, Sean (Shannon) White and Gary (Cleta) White, both of Springfield; seven great-grandchildren, Carston and Abbey Champion, Langdon Stokien, Blake, Ben, William and Isabella White; and one brother, William Bryant of Bowling Green, MO.
Mr. Bryant lived in Springfield all of his life. He retired from Prairie Farms Dairy after 44 years. He was an Army Veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Bryant was a member of the Lou Settles bowling league, loved to golf and was a diehard Cardinals fan.
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
