Roy W. "Bill" Singer
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Roy W. "Bill" Singer, 74, died at 9:35 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Springfield, to Roy Edward and Florence Evelyn Jasmon Singer. He married Doloris P. Tribble on Oct. 11, 1957, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean (Troy) Bauer of Greenview; two sons, Earl Lee Singer of San Antonio, Texas and William Alan "Bill" (Deb) Singer of Petersburg; eight granddaughters; one grandson; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Hoehn and Penny Cottongain both of Springfield; five brothers: John (Jean) Singer of North Carolina, Larry (Betty) Singer of Whitehall, Stephen (Teri) Singer of Springfield; Robert G. (Roxane) Singer of Athens and Ralph Singer of Springfield; one aunt, Audrey Jasmon of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Sue Johnson; a brother, David Eugene Singer; a daughter, Diana Lynn Singer; and one great-grandson, Joshua William Puckett.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph's Church. He belonged to the NRA, ISRA and Lincoln Land Gun Club. He loved to fish and camp.
He retired in 2002 from the Illinois State Police after 25 years of service. He previously worked for Barker Lubin for 23 years.
Visitation: 2-5 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home, the Rev. Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
