SPRINGFIELD, IL - Schoutz McClanahan, 78, died at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.
Schoutz was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Bloomington, Ill. He married Juanita Daniels on July 5, 2005, in Springfield. Schoutz worked for the State of Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services for 26 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion, and was a Mason. He loved playing golf and going to the casinos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita McClanahan of Springfield; five sons: Clarence (wife, Liz), Hertis (wife, Lisa), Donald, Kyle (wife, Kesha), all of Springfield and Jason McClanahan of Arizona; three daughters: Elaina White and Odette Barnes, both of Springfield, and Erica McClanahan of Aurora, Colo.; one stepson, Rick (wife, Linda) Daniels of Allen, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jeannie (husband, Mark) Menich of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shoutz touched the lives of many people with his wonderful smile and vibrant personality.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral ceremony at noon on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 3000 Lenhart Rd., Springfield, IL, Pastor David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
