Scott Alexander Edgar
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Scott Alexander Edgar, 61, died on Friday, March 14, 2014, at his residence.
Scott was born on August 7, 1952, in Roanoke, Va., the son of Robert A. and Georgia F. McBride Edgar. He married Robin Fryhoff Vancil on August 21, 1993, in Springfield.
Mr. Edgar received his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology in 1974 from SIU-Carbondale, his Master's Degree in Human Developing and Counseling in 1977 from Sangamon State University and had started working towards his Doctorate in Vocational Education. He began working as a volunteer house parent and counselor for Aid to Retarded Citizens and later worked for Sangamon-Cass Consortium (CETA). He also worked for the Illinois College Board, Commerce and Community Affairs and for the Illinois State Board of Education where he retired in 2011 after 25 years of service in administration. He was a member of the Motor Boat Club and a judge for Cruise for Charity. Scott was a big car enthusiast and loved going to auctions and all car races, mainly NHRA races.
He is survived by his wife, Robin, of Springfield; daughter, Kimberly (Josh) Winters, of Harrisburg, Ill.; stepdaughter, Stephanie (Mark) Ballinger, of Springfield; two sisters, Christine (Jerry) Fourez, of Danville and Diane (Jerry) Fruth, of Wadesville, Ind.; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Margaret Fryhoff of Rochester; two grandchildren, Aiden and Shelby Winters; two stepgrandchildren, Brody and Taylor Ballinger; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the funeral home with Reverend Brad Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
