Sharon K. Nation

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Sharon K. Nation, 63, went to be with the Lord at 8:26 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2014. She was born Aug. 16, 1950, in Springfield, to Howard and Helen (Myers) Nation, Sr.

Survivors include daughter, Lori Johnson, of Springfield; son, William "Billy" Johnson, Jr., of Sherman; grandchildren, William "B" III, Bryan, Kaylee, and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Serenity, Desirae and Lily (on the way); mother, Helen Connell, of Springfield; sisters, Tracy Rueter, Tresa (Chris) Hamilton, Judy (Fiancé Travis Peden) Fox, and Patty (Ted) Merano, all of Springfield; brothers, Howard Nation, Jr., of Springfield, and Johnny Nation, of Chicago; one stepbrother, David (Angel) Connell, of Springfield; companion, Lyle Roof, of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Nation, Sr., and step-father, Richard Connell.

She retired from St. John's Hospital after 17 years of service.

Sharon attended Real Life Church. She was a huge Elvis fan. She loved playing shuffleboard and pinochle while enjoying a cold PBR. She was a diehard Cub fan. She also enjoyed fishing, dancing, singing karaoke with family and friends, and baking cookies with her grandchildren.

She was a loving devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

She loved life to the fullest, cherished her friends and family, and would help anyone. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation: 1-3 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 3 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's Miracle Network.
