SPRINGFIELD - Shirley A. Miller, 78, of Springfield, died at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Regency Nursing Care Residence.

Shirley was born September 2, 1934 in Bloomington, the daughter of Archie and Regina Feit Bauman. She married Donald G. Miller on June 16, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2003.

Shirley graduated from Octavia High School in Colfax, IL and earned her RN nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She worked for the City Health Department and then for the Department of Public Health, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Prop Club. Shirley enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, reading, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her siblings, Patricia Norton of Cooksville, James (wife, Nancy) Bauman of Springfield, Betty (husband, Clinton) Wolfe of Springfield, and Julie (husband, Gary) Swango of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.

Additional Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 8:30 until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
