Anna "Jane" Justison Obituary

Anna "Jane"

BUTLER, IL - Anna "Jane" Justison, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, 2014.

Jane was born in Brushymound Township, Carlinville, Ill., on October 22, 1922, to Wiley and Elizabeth (Edminston) Loveless. She graduated from Carlinville High School in 1940 and received her nursing diploma from Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was a member of the Nurse Cadet Corp from 1942-1945. On October 14, 1945, Jane wed her childhood sweetheart, Thomas S. Justison, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1999.

Jane worked as a registered nurse for 45 years, from 1945 until her retirement in 1990, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Ill., and was passionate about nursing, inspiring many to enter the profession which she loved. Jane was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed reading and subscribed to five area newspapers. An avid gardener, she enjoyed tending to her many flower and bulb gardens. Her culinary talent for desserts assured her angel food cake and divinity fudge were always in high demand. Jane also loved to travel and was proud to say that she had stood on Red Square in Moscow, Russia.

Jane is survived by her three children, son, Thomas A. Justison and Pamela Schaefer, of Hillsboro, Ill.; son, David L. Justison, and wife, Lana K. Justison, of Hillsboro, Ill.; and daughter, Patricia J. (Justison) Newberry, R.N., and husband, Timothy F. Newberry, of Madison, Ala. She is also survived by her much loved grandchildren, Julie S. Justison, of Chicago, Ill.; Jennifer A. (Justison) Barron and husband, Ben Barron, of Cibolo, Texas; Keri L. Justison, R.N., and fiance, Jason Hayes, of Morrisonville, Ill.; David M. Justison and wife, Kate (Zimmerman) Justison, of Butler, Ill.; Patricia K. Justison, of Normal, Ill.; Thomas (Tommy) F. Justison, of Hillsboro, Ill.; Jane E. Newberry and Katherine (Kate) P. Newberry, of Madison, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille C. Fenton, in 1953, and brother, Vernon R. Loveless, in 1986.

Jane was a member of Wares Grove Lutheran Church in Butler, Ill., and most recently St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Madison, Ala., where she was an integral part of the children's sermon. She also was a life-time member of Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Hickory Hills Audubon Society IAS.

A private graveside service for immediate family members will be held at the Behme Cemetery in Carlinville, Ill., with Rev. Marvin Fenton officiating.

Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a nursing scholarship is being created in Jane's honor.
