Annie L. Peters

TULSA, OK – Annie Laurie (Veatch) Peters, 79, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, at her daughter's home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born in Tulsa on August 20, 1933, to Ralph and Potter Lockwood Veatch. She married Richard Peters on April 17, 2004, in Springfield, where they resided until Annie's illness took her back to Tulsa to be with her children.

Annie graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1951. She received a BA in mathematics and business from the University of Tulsa, was active in Phi Mu Fraternity, and received the PanHellenic Scholarship for the highest grades of any fraternity woman.

She worked as a programmer-analyst for McDonald-Douglas, McDonald Aircraft, and Cities Service Oil. She was a mathematics and history teacher for Tulsa Public Schools, and an information systems project leader for Blue Cross Blue Shield. In 1996, she was ordained as a minister in the Unity Church, and held pastorates in South Bend, IN and Decatur, IL.

Annie was an excellent pianist and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adeline's, the Decatur Choral, and the Springfield Methodist New Life Choir.

Besides her beloved husband, Richard, she is survived by her children: C. Jeffrey (Kamella) Stebbins of Panama Beach, FL, Ralph (Becky) Stebbins of Hendersonville, TN, Catherine Thompson of Tulsa, William Stebbins of Clermont, FL; six step-daughters: Debbie (Rich) Twardowski of Hickory Hills, IL, Cindy (John) Bounds, Linda (Tom) Oseland, Peggy (Wally) Power all of Riverton, IL, Lisa (Shawn) McGee of Littleton, CO, and Tammy (Doug) Sims of Athens, IL; brother, Ralph (Quendrid) of Tulsa; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service: A funeral service will be held on Friday December 14, 2012, at Moore Funeral Home, Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Memorial Service: A celebration service will be held on Sunday, December 16, at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Springfield, Illinois.
