Barbara Schemmer 1944 - 2018
Williamsville, IL—Barbara Schemmer, 73, of Williamsville, died at 7:17 pm, Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 3, 1944 in Chicago, to USN Commander James H. and Margaret "Betty" Boyce Harms. She married Ron Schemmer on July 18, 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of Williamsville; one daughter, Lynn Ann Schemmer (companion, Percy Pollard) of Springfield; two sons, Doug (Laura) Schemmer of Chatham and Greg Schemmer of Williamsville; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Dustin Schemmer, Sam and Sydney Schemmer and Kanedy and Keenan Schemmer - Gude; mother and matriarch of the family, Margaret "Betty" Sheahan of Auburn and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, James "Jeff" Harms.
Barb started working as an LPN at the Pediatric Center in Springfield. After graduation from St. John's School of Nursing, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Medical Center in the NIC-U and nursery. She became a certified Lactation Educator and was the founder of the Lactation Education program at Memorial Medical Center where she retired after many years of devoted service.
She attended Hope Church and enjoyed reading, crafts, making jewelry and stamping. She adored all of her grandchildren and fiercely loved Kingsley her four legged best friend.
A special thanks is given to nurse, caregiver and friend, Jodi Daykin, for the wonderful care and love shown to Barb over the past three years.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman 2626 E. Andrew Rd., Sherman, IL 62684.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Monday, September 17, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman, 2626 E. Andrew Rd., Sherman, IL 62684 with Pastor Patrick Groth officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
