Benjamin "Ben" S. Stillwagon 1944 - 2019
Springfield, IL—Benjamin "Ben" S. Stillwagon, 74, of Springfield, died at 3:14 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at St. John's Hospital surrounded by his family.
Ben was born on August 29, 1944, in Springfield, the son of Benjamin S. and Florence Fleck Stillwagon. He married Barbara Johnson on April 30, 1966, in Springfield. When Ben was ten days old, his father died in World War II. Florence then married Harold Wehmeyer.
Ben was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church for over 45 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan. Ben enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and granddogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Stillwagon of Springfield; daughters, Tracy (husband, Dan) Poggi of Springfield, Pam (husband, Brett) Tackett of Rochester, and Linda (companion, Dan Anderson) Stillwagon of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Kris (wife, Amber), Chase, Alex, Gabrielle and Zoey Tackett, Bree and Justin Jones, Allie Poggi, and Raylee Griffin; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, Carter, Rylin, Josiah, and Everett; siblings, Nora May Byrne, Hal (wife, Terri) Wehmeyer and Bill (wife, Dana) Wehmeyer, all of Mountain Home, AR; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton, Springfield with Rev. Kevin Mann, S.J.C., celebrant.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospital NICU, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62769.
