Clyde L. Cufaude

MASON CITY, IL - Clyde L. Cufaude, 88, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at 7:00 p.m.

He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Mason City, Ill., to Dan C. and Rose (Hubbard) Cufaude. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Mardelle (Corson) Cufaude. Clyde and Mardelle were married in Mason City, Ill., on Dec. 29, 1946.

Clyde is also survived by one son, Daniel A. (Vinnie) Cufaude of Canton, Ill.; three daughters: Rosanne (Jim) Drechsel of Plano, Texas, Cathryn (John) Rechner of Downers Grove, Ill., and Amy (Steve) Becker of Carlyle, Ill.; one brother, Howard Cufaude of Evansville, Wis.; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Cufaude.

Clyde was a member of the Methodist Church, the Jackson-Keen Post #496 of the American Legion and the Mason City Masonic Temple. Clyde served as a Volunteer Fireman for many years, was active in the City Council and served on the Mason City Cemetery Board. Clyde served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He also worked as a contractor for many years and at Caterpillar as a Maintenance Supervisor. Clyde enjoyed woodworking, the Chicago Cubs and his family.

Among his many close friends he was often referred to as "Hotty," a nickname he carried with him his entire life.

Visitation for Clyde will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, Ill., on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. - noon. The funeral service will follow the visitation at noon at the funeral home, Pastor Curt McAllister officiating. Burial will follow at Mason City Cemetery in Mason City, Ill.
