Deloris "Liz" Anderson
JERSEYVILLE - Deloris Elizabeth "Liz" (Wente) Barber Anderson, 85, died suddenly at 8:15 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013, at her residence.
She was born November 5, 1927, in Neoga, Ill., and was the daughter of the late Clem "Pete" and Lillian Wente.
Liz was a graduate of Neoga High School and furthered her studies at the Lakeland Junior College in Mattoon.
Throughout her life she had lived in Neoga, Mattoon, Springfield, and most recently Jerseyville. As a resident of Jerseyville, she was an active and valued member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Westlake Country Club and the Jersey County Business Association Ambassadors.
She first married Gail Barber in 1947 and together they had six children; he preceded her in death. Liz was married to Francis "Sam" Anderson on Feb. 14, 1995, at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville. The two of them have been blessed with 18 years together.
Surviving are her six children and their spouses: Sue and Michael Ramage of Mattoon, Jerry Barber of Sitka, Alaska, Steve and Sue Barber of Kingston, Idaho, Julie and Vince Holtkamp of Centralia, Melissa and Dan Kelly of Champaign, and Mary and Ben Reynolds of Pleasant Plains; four stepchildren and their spouses: Steve and Mary Ann Anderson of Lisle, Jim and Susie Anderson of Plano, Texas, Patricia and Chuck Ludwig of Haywood, Calif., and John and Susan Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters and their spouses: Mary Lou and Richard Barber of Mattoon, Patricia Kuhns of Effingham, and Alice and Charlie Fisher of Springfield; two brothers and their spouses: William and Joann Wente of Springfield and Michael and Rachel Wente of Los Angeles, Calif.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Metzger, and a brother, Clemmie Wente.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville. Burial will take place in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville.
