Donald Leo Ballweg 1936 - 2018
Springfield, IL—Donald Leo Ballweg, 82, of Springfield, died at 1:28 pm, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on February 2, 1936, in Springfield to John Erickson and Florence Marcella (Creighton) Ballweg. He married Barbara Davis on May 30, 1959.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Patricia Ballweg (Kim) Barrington of Springfield; three sons, Gary (Tara) Ballweg and Richard (Therese) Ballweg of Springfield, and John (Stacey) Ballweg of Rochester; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John "Jack" Edmond Ballweg and a niece.
Donald was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He retired as a photographer after 34 years from the Illinois Air National Guard. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and Knights of Columbus Council #364. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation:9 – 10 am, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Mass:10:30 am, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
