Doris M. Clark

JACKSONVILLE, IL - Doris M. Clark, 99, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at her residence in Jacksonville.

She was born Jan. 14, 1915, in rural Chesterfield, the daughter of James T. and Lula Mae Joiner Stults. She married Charles R. March and they were later divorced.

Doris is survived by three children: Kay (husband, Jim) Scott of Jacksonville, Charles Ralph (wife, Martha) March of Palmyra, and Gary (wife, Jane) March of Carlinville; four grandchildren: Travis (wife, Carolyn) March of Rochester, Jared (companion, Stacey Nall) March of Springfield, Angela (husband, Rich) Facciotti of Broomfield, Colo., and Amanda March of Tampa, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney March.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Moore, and three brothers: Truman Stults, Dean Stults and Leroy Stults (surviving wife, Frances of Carlinville.)

Doris worked as a payroll officer for the State of Illinois Jacksonville Developmental Center for many years. She was instrumental in the organization of AFSCME Retirees Local Chapter 31 in Jacksonville and was a past-president, and served as Vice-President of the International AFSCME Retirees. Doris was elected to the State Employees Retirement Board and served for 12 years. She was recipient of the Governor's Award for Unique Achievement in Labor and was named to the Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame in 2009. Doris was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, and a member of the V.F.W. and Moose auxiliaries.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
