Emmett P. "Big O" O'Donnell 1938 - 2018
Winchester, IL—Emmett P. "Big O" O'Donnell, 80 of Winchester passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Jacksonville.
He was born May 29, 1938, one of fourteen children of the late Dana and Gertrude Metzger O'Donnell. He attended Winchester High School and Cathedral High School in Springfield where he was active in Basketball and Baseball. Emmett worked as an over the road truck driver for many years, retiring from Fearneyhough Trucking in 2000. He also worked as a chauffeur for a limousine company in Chicago. He was a UA Army veteran, a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 442 and the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister Emma Jane in 1939, sisters Agnes Smith, Regina Hubbard, Loraine Watt, Margaret O'Donnell, Marcella Giles, brothers, Patrick O'Donnell and George O'Donnell.
Surviving are his sisters Mary Lou Finks, Virginia Coughlin and Janice Keefner, and brothers Jim O'Donnell and Joe O'Donnell.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. The family will meet with friends from noon until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
