Eugene C. "Gene" Randall

DAWSON, IL - Eugene C. "Gene" Randall, 83, passed away at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at home in Dawson.

Gene was born April 18, 1930, in Edwardsville, Ill., the son of Ella J. Randall. He married Delores Daugherty on Feb. 3, 1960; she survives.

Gene proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company until his retirement in January of 1983 after 35 years of service. After retirement from A-C, he was a driver for Guiffre Buick for 15 years. He was a member of the A-C Management Club and Cushman Club of America. He enjoyed building radio-controlled airplanes and boats, camping, fishing, boating and restoring old Cushman motor scooters. Gene was also co-owner of Dee's Trees Ceramics.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maxine Brooks; one grandson, Lamar Gragg; and one granddaughter, Erica Gragg.

Gene is survived by his wife, Delores Randall of Dawson; one daughter, Kelly Lynn Gragg Sanders of Dawson; two grandchildren, Tiffany Gragg Northern of Dawson and Deondra Sanders (fiancée, James Mayhew) of Springfield; one great-grandchild, Kel' Lis Gragg of Dawson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, the Rev. Gerald Lasley officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
