Frank E. Warren
AUBURN - Frank E. Warren, 95, of Auburn, IL, formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Frank was born August 25, 1917, in Middletown, IL, son of William and Flossie Warren. He married Mary Catherine Conlon on October 5, 1940.
Frank served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945, then enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and served until 1961. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1977. He loved to bowl, go duck hunting, and fish. In his later years, his favorite pastimes were watching the St. Louis Cardinals on TV and reading westerns.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: William Warren, Vernon Warren, Tommy Warren (infant), Marie Williams, and Kathleen Engle.
Surviving are his wife, Mary C. Warren of Auburn; children: Janice (Rod) Stewart of Chicago, F. Stephen (Phyllis) Warren of Petersburg, Joyce (Rich Newman) Warren and David Warren, both of Springfield, and Mary A. (Sue Osthus) Warren of Chatham; nine grandchildren (one deceased); eight stepgrandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, April, 25, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Family burial will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Middletown, IL, immediately following the ceremony.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, Illinois Capital Chapter Area, 1045 Outer Park Dr., Springfield, IL 62704 or the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, c/o Richard Sorenson, 2108 Palo Alto Dr., Springfield, IL 62711.
