Helen L. Cearlock
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Helen L. Cearlock, 88, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Villa Health Care East in Sherman, Ill.
She was born May 21, 1925, the daughter of Joseph M. and Bonita Henry Utinske. She married her high school sweetheart, Everett G. Cearlock, on Jan. 27, 1946.
Helen was a graduate of Feitshans High School and was formerly employed at Sangamo Electric Company and Currie Electronics. However, she was first and foremost a homemaker in the best sense of the word. She was an amazing cook; pies were her specialty. She especially loved baking pies for her family, friends and neighbors. Helen was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling, reading and playing card games of all kinds.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marilyn Zeman.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Everett; two daughters, Bonnie (husband, Tom) Myers of Springfield and Lori (husband, Earl) Doage of Bloomington; and one son, Mark (wife, Trenna) Cearlock of Spaulding, Ill. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Patrick (wife, Erin) Myers of Springfield, Steven (wife, Melanie) Myers of Glendale Heights, Ill., Nicholas Doage and Megan Doage, both of Bloomington, and Andrew Cearlock of Alton, Ill. There are also four great-grandchildren: Abigail and Alexander Myers, and Skyler and Kamden Doage. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Bernard Zeman and two nieces.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
