Juanita A. Perry
EDINBURG - Juanita A. Perry, 85, of Edinburg, Ill., passed away Dec. 29, 2012, at 2:50 p.m. at Regency Nursing Care Residence in Springfield, Ill.
She was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Rochester, Ill., the daughter of Luther and Pearl Smith Kelley. She married Gordon E. Perry on Feb. 20, 1947, in Taylorville, Ill. She served as Clerk and later as Postmaster at the Edinburg Post Office, retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service. Juanita was an active member of the Edinburg Christian Church for many years serving in a variety of capacities; and she later became a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and was also a Charter Member of the Edinburg Lioness Club.
Juanita was also actively involved in her community. She participated in the Christian County Red Cross, coordinating local blood drives. She also served on the board of the Christian County Senior Citizen's Center in Taylorville, as well as representing Christian County on the advisory board of the Area Agency on Aging for Lincoln land.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughter, Deb (Gary) Philo of Springfield, Ill.; grandchildren, Kyle (fiance, Britney Hicks) Lasswell of Edinburg, Ill.; great-grandchildren, London, Kyle Jr., Roman, Corey, and Cameron; brother: Gene Kelley of Springfield, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Barb Payne and Brenda Stimac of Edinburg, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Tom Warren of Edinburg, Ill., and Bill (Jerry) Perry of New Jersey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 12 noon at Bethel Baptist Church, Taylorville with the Honorable Judge Ron Spears officiating. There will be a private family burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Bethel Baptist Church, Taylorville.
