Marjory J. Chism

CARLINVILLE - Marjory J. Chism, 92, of Carlinville and formerly of Chesterfield, passed away Thursday, November 15 at Heritage Manor in Carlinville. She was born February 28, 1920 in Chesterfield, the daughter of Eldon and Opal (Gahr) Duckels. She married C. Thomas Chism December 25, 1946 in Chesterfield and he preceded her in death April 28, 1998.

Surviving are three children: John "Jack" (Susan) Chism of Greenville, Rosemary (Dennis) Jordan of Chesterfield, and Christine "Christy" (Charles) Coates of Decatur; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Michael "Mick" Chism and one sister: Melba (William) Wood.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm Sunday, at the Carlinville United Methodist Church where funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday. Burial will follow at the Chism Cemetery near Chesterfield. Memorials are suggested to "In Faith" Ministries, the or the Rockbridge United Methodist Church. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.
