JACKSONVILLE - Mike Flynn, 73, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1940, in Jacksonville, the son of Lawrence Joseph and Margaret Hagen Flynn. He married Mary Evelyn Burmeister on June 10, 1961, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield and she survives.
He is also survived by six sons: Danny Flynn of Jacksonville, Steve (wife, Kathy) Flynn of Chesterfield, MO, Ron (wife, Meena) Flynn of New York City, Chris (wife, Cynthia) Flynn of Boston, and Andy (wife, Aimee) Flynn and Mark (wife, Vivian) Flynn both of New York City; one daughter, Jeannie (husband, Ken) Krebs of Edwardsville; 12 grandchildren: Michael Flynn, Cole and Jessica Krebs and Meghan, Shannon, Abigail, Jack, Anya, Alex, Sonya, David and Sophia Flynn; two sisters, Noreen (husband, Albert) Taylor of Concord and Marguerite "Sue" Bennett of Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Lawrence Flynn (surviving wife, Anna Mae of Jacksonville), Vincent Flynn (surviving wife, Peggy of Jacksonville), Pat Flynn (surviving wife, Lila of Rockford), Francis and Joseph Flynn in infancy and three sisters: Mary Wade, Helen McGrath and Kathleen Schirz.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home. A prayer service will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. also on Tuesday at the funeral home.
