Nancy Hay Noonan Patton
Nancy Hay Noonan Patton, 86, of Springfield, died at 10:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Oak Terrace.
Nancy was born on November 29, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Paul R. and Nan Lloyd Noonan. She married John Agee Patton on June 19, 1948 in Springfield. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Nancy was a graduate of Butler Elementary and Springfield High School. She also attended the University of Illinois and earned her Master Gardener certificate. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Illinois State Museum as a tour guide for many years, later serving as Executive Administrator of the Illinois State Museum Society for 25 years. She was past President of the Springfield Junior League, served twice as Chairman for the Beaux Art Ball, First Chairman of Old State Capitol Art Fair, and was twice the President of the Springfield Art Association.
She was a collector of fine art, china, crystals, and oil paintings. She also loved horses, which developed in her teenage years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; granddaughter, Kelley Baker; and sister-in-law, Julie Noonan.
She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Robin) Patton and Jeffrey (Suzanne) Patton, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, Kirsty (companion, John Bedoli) Hennessey, Victoria Patton, Nicholas Patton, and Michael Patton, all of Springfield, and Faon (Kyle) Vandeventer of Tuscola; three great-grandchildren, Sydney Hunter of Rushville, Brandon Dorr of Springfield, and Layla Skeeter of Tuscola; brother, Patrick A. Noonan of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Hazel Douglas of Springfield.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
