Neva Sue

SPRINGFIELD - Neva Sue Neal-Mundstock, 56, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, surrounded by loved ones at home.

Neva was born August 8, 1956, in Mattoon, the daughter of Wayne T. and Martha Senteney Neal. She married John Mundstock on April 2, 1988, in Mattoon.

Neva was class of 1974 at Mattoon High School. Friends made there have lasted her lifetime. She attended Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and later attended the University of Illinois at Springfield completing her Bachelor of Education Degree.

Neva's employment with the State of Illinois began in 1979. For the past 27 years she served as an Arbitrator for the Workers' Compensation Commission. Her reputation as fair and honest was known throughout the state.

For those that have been part of Neva's life, we are blessed with the gifts that she leaves us. Her spirit and her passion were reflected in her art; whether painting, arranging flowers for a friend's wedding, working in her own amazing garden, painting silk scarves or designer bras for cancer research. The floor cloth that adorns her living room defines her distinctive style. She loved being creative, her colors vibrant, bright and cheery, and she encompassed people in her creative presence. She shared her energy selflessly, her passion abundantly and the beauty she created with all who knew her. She enjoyed daily rides on the bike trail and riding RAGBRAI in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, John Mundstock of Springfield; daughter, Audrey Mundstock of Madison, WI; stepson, Scott (wife, Stacey) Mundstock of Rochester; her mother, Martha "Liz" Neal of Mattoon; two grandchildren, Ian and Aley Mundstock, both of Rochester; three siblings, David (wife, Alice) Neal of Albuquerque, NM, Craig (wife, Bonnie) Neal of Farmington, NM, and Peggy (husband, Greg) Schaefer of Mattoon; two beloved pets, Kitty and Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
