Nolan B. Jones, Jr.
ROSCOE, IL - Nolan B. Jones, Jr., 66, passed away on November 15, 2012, in Roscoe from heart failure.
He was born January 3, 1946, in Fulton, MO, the son of Nolan B. and Juanita (Gentry) Jones, Sr., who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Susie" Jones of Roscoe; his son, Woody (Kristin) Jones of Romeoville IL; his son, Gus (Aleta) Jones of Staten Island, New York; and three granddaughters, Olivia, Morgan and Delilah of Romeoville, IL. He is also survived by his sisters, Toni (Steve) Ryan of Beloit, WI, Jane (Hank) Lamb of Rockford, IL, and Polly (Don) Edwards of Springfield, IL. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Carrol and Doris Woods of Springfield IL, sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Hugh) Harris and Mindy Woods of Springfield, IL; brothers-in-law Mark Woods and Todd Woods of Springfield, IL and Jeff (Karen) Woods of Williamsville, IL. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews in Central and Northern Illinois.
Nolan attended Springfield High School and Lincoln Land Community College. He served our country in the United States Air Force and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. He liked living in the small community of Roscoe where he frequented the fitness center, the local library and enjoyed the bike path near his home. Nolan was a pleasure to be with and was the most loving husband, father, grandfather and brother anyone could hope for. He was happiest in the company of children. He and his wife of 39 years had a wonderful life together and loved working in their garden and on the home they helped to remodel themselves. He was proudest of his sons and for their chosen professions.
The family would like to thank the numerous friends and relatives that were so meaningful to Nolan in his lifetime. It is with their love and support that his family will endure his unexpected passing.
A celebration of his life will be held in Roscoe at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Honquest Family Funeral Home, 11342 Main St., Roscoe, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent care of his family for a fund to be established. To express condolences, visit www.honquestfh.com.
