Oma M. Parrish
SPRINGFIELD - Oma M. Parrish, 90, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Villa in Sherman.
She was born September 27, 1922 in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Henry E. and Nell B. (Craig) Vogt. She married Robert W. Bruce on December 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death. She married William B. Parrish August 30, 1973 and he survives.
After graduating from high school in Salem, Oma attended the University of Illinois and Brown's Business College. She worked various jobs over the years as secretary, bookkeeper, and office manager, retiring in 1984 as office manager for Ace Hardware in Springfield. She also operated Bruce's Quick Clean Laundromat in Grandview from 1964 to 1969. After retiring, she and her husband Bill spent several years as full-time RV campers traveling around the country. They then lived in Clermont, Florida before moving back to Springfield.
In addition to her first husband Robert, her parents, her sister Lois O. Lewis and her brother Henry E. Vogt Jr. preceded her in death. In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by daughter Barbie (Ed) Summer, son Jeff (Debbie) Bruce, son Brian (Brenda) Bruce, stepdaughter Kristy (Mike) Boehm, stepdaughter Debbie (Mike) Friess, stepson Bill Parrish and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
