WAGGONER - Paul Raymond Emery, 88, of Waggoner, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Litchfield Healthcare.
He was born Thursday, July 13, 1922 in Maroa, Illinois, the son of Lawrence Edward and Lena Josephine (Rinehart) Emery.
He married Hazel B (King) in Waggoner, on April 9, 1950.
Paul was a lifetime farmer in the Atwater area. He raised dairy cattle, sheep, hogs and chickens as well as raising wheat, corn and soybeans. Paul also operated Paul Emery Farm Supply from 1969 to the mid 1980's. In his later years, Paul enjoyed working on sewing machines and growing food in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed tracing his family and friends genealogy and spending time with his grandchildren.
Family members include wife, Hazel of Waggoner, Illinois, son, Walter E. Emery (Bernadette) of Riverton, IL, son, John C. Emery (Mary) of Mt. Olive , IL, daughter, Linda Jones (Nelson) of Urbana, Il., son, Carl E. Emery (Kylia) of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Sharon Emery (Frank) of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Paul E. Emery (Mary) of Glenarm, IL, 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, sister-in-law, Imogene Emery of Carlinville, IL.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, brothers, Scott, Orville (Doc), Oscar (Ike) and sister Virginia Slightom.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Saturday, August 29 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL.Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Carlinville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
