Phillip M. "Phil" Ayer
Phillip M. "Phil" Ayer, 71, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Thursday June 13, 2013 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL.
He was born December 13, 1941 the son of Sanford and Beatrice LaFaver Ayer. He married Marlene Birkenkamp Aug. 31, 1962 and she survives.
He is also survived by his three daughters; Angela (husband Doug) Carver of Springfield, Kathy Havener of Divernon, and Sara Ayer of Lincoln, his four grandchildren; George (wife Lori) Benedict of Springfield, Mandy (husband James) Whalen of Morrisonville, IL, Ashley (companion Josh Werner) and Jesse (companion Kaylea Toole) Benedict both of Springfield, his grand dog, Sable Jane of Lincoln, six great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and his dog, Fisher
Phil worked as a production manager for several years at TKI Foods in Springfield retiring in 1997. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS. He enjoyed socializing while eating breakfast every morning at Hardee's on Wabash Ave.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where the family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Monday June 17, 2013 and where a funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday June 18, 2013 Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, near Riverton.
