Ray was born June 21, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, the third son of Stanley and Pauline Bulinski. He proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Radioman 3rd Class. In 1957, Ray graduated from the University of Illinois in Architecture. He worked at several architectural firms and the architecture office for University of Illinois. Ray was friendly, outgoing, determined and generous. He greatly loved his family and was the happiest at family gatherings and celebrations. His presence will be greatly missed.
He was avid about sports; a loyal Illini basketball and football fan, and he cheered for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed playing golf at every opportunity. Ray served as a volunteer athletic director and coach at St. Matthew's School in Champaign. He went on to coach CYO basketball and was a referee for many local high schools and Springfield Spoke Jockeys, a wheelchair basketball team. Ray was an enthusiastic gardener.
