Robert "Bob" Bednarko 1932 - 2018
Athens, IL—Robert "Bob" Bednarko, age 86, of Athens, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on May 10, 1932 the son of John and Anna (Cadek) Bednarko.
Bob is survived by two sons John (Anita) Bednarko and Donnie (Mary Tobias) Bednarko; four grandchildren, Bobby (Courtney Kershaw), Jason (Kristy), Rachael Bednarko and Amy (Karolis) Gaule; four great – grandchildren, Bowen, Noah, Kendall Bednarko and Oliver Gaule; longtime companion, Pat Richter as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Dottie (1991); one daughter, Barbara Bednarko (1964) and one brother, Ed Bednarko (2014).
Bob was a member of the armed forces for 41 years before retiring from the Army National Guard where he worked at Camp Lincoln as a mechanic. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens, IL, and a member of the Athens VFW Post 5302.
Bob enjoyed going to the boat, playing the machine with friends, spending time with his family and repairing small engines for friends. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals but was a closet Yankee fan. Bob also really enjoyed supporting Athens High School sports.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, July 13, 2017 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Services will be held on Saturday July 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens, IL.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be given to the or Holy Family Catholic Church.
